About

I’m caroline,

a potter with a life-long interest in all things ceramic. From classes at school (in the 70s, most schools had a well-equipped pottery), to evening classes in my twenties and occasional workshops along the way, I’m now in my fifties, and lucky enough to have more time and space to focus on really getting to grips with low-tech forms of pottery such as Raku, which have always fascinated me. What once was a rather ramshackle old shed in my garden has slowly developed into a comfortable and well-equipped studio where I hand build my pots using slabs, plaster moulds (which I make) and coils.

Pottery definitely has a therapeutic function for me, using my hands to make forms and create whole and complete pieces is immensely satisfying.

I enjoy mastering complex methods such as ‘naked Raku’, whilst also giving pieces up to the exciting randomness of the firing process.
